Watford Time Swap

Watford Time Swap started as part of the Better Government for Older People Project, involving people aged 50 and over to develop the Project and help Watford Council to monitor its services. It has now been extended to all age groups and fully launched in the community.

Time Swap will be promoted and developed by the Council’s Community Centres; and the staff members, who are familiar with the needs and skills of the people in their area, will be acting as the ‘Time Brokers’.

Members have continued to earn credits by helping the Council to monitor its services like street cleansing, and helping with the homework club and hobby club. There is still a big demand for simple home repairs and gardening tasks and we are looking for more volunteers. A new member is offering fitness training welcomed by a few enthusiasts while a partially sighted person is being assisted with her mail. Our first Time Swap volunteer is still busy producing the Newsletters and co-ordinating information for the web site.

The new Time Swap web site www.watford.gov.uk/communityservices/timeswap will be operational in the summer.
