Case Study
HOur Bank has been developing its unique arts focus since 2004 and currently has seven active Interest Groups Art, Poetry, Music, Craft, Knitting, Cookery and Reading. Each Interest group has two member organisers and members who attend a group pay two time credits per session. Members share responsibility for leading sessions. In 2006 the Art Group benefited from HOur Bank working in collaboration with the Dulwich Picture Gallery. The Gallery were able to provide, for free, an artist and materials for five sessions, plus guided tours of the gallery collection. In 2005 the Music Group worked with a voice coach to learn a South African Lullaby which they performed accapella at the AC Bromley 2005 AGM. HOur Bank has been successful in securing 12,135 from Arts Council England to fund the HOur Bank Arts Programme a year long series of arts activities running from Jan to Dec 2007. HOur Bank members will have the opportunity to write poetry with Wendy French, Moniza Alvi and Anne-Marie Fyfe; write creatively with Les Robinson from Tall Lighthouse; sing world music with Tatiana Spencer and take part in one off craft/visual arts workshops with textiles artists Lucy Brown, Jeanette Appleton, Cas Holmes and Celia Pym all for time credits.
