| Case Study |
What Our Members Have Been Up To in 2005!
Mick kindly did some bike repairs for Pauline, getting her bikes into shape for the summer months. He then spent the hours he'd earned having Karen bake him a delicious fruit cake.
Meanwhile Karen's husband, John, spent an hour up a ladder clearing out Jane's gutters. Karen and John spent their hours having their garden dug up ready to lay a patio by the Youth Offending Service who are now one of our member organisations.
Jane who had previously earned a couple of hours putting some log roll edging into Kate's garden used her hours not just on having her gutters cleared but having a zip mended in her favourite pair of trousers and getting advice from Geoff about putting up a garden pergola.
Geoff and his wife Lucy pooled their hours and got help off Tessa with harvesting the fruits of their garden and I'm assured that the majority of the raspberries, etc, went into the basket and not straight into the mouth.
Tessa's Time Bank account looks very healthy at the moment - not just from the fruit picking but she also helped a member out by taking her and her husband to and from Manchester Airport for their holiday of a lifetime to Australia to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Tessa's using her hours getting help in her garden from John and Paul.
Finally a big 'Thank You' from another of our member organisations - the Parish Centre Luncheon Club - to Vivienne, Liz, Andrea, Les, Phillip and Sheila who very kindly help their members get to the club and back again after their delicious home made lunches. Les has already spent his credits having a jumper knitted for him by Sue - and very dapper he looks in it too!
This is just a small 'snapshot' of the things going on at Chesterfield Time Bank. As you can see our members have been extremely busy in 2005 helping out on a wide variety of different jobs. Let's hope we can keep up the good work in 2006! |
